Who doesn’t love pictures? We save them on our phones, we print them out and frame them, or we put them in albums for safekeeping. But these are all standard ways of saving our beloved memories. One great thing about pictures is we get to show them to our family and friends. Here are several unique ways you can showcase your photos in your home.

World Map

If you are afflicted with the travel bag, one way to display the pictures you took in your travels is by sticking it into a big world map on your wall. Maps are becoming huge decorative pieces in homes once more. Millennials are the most widely traveled age group and it shows on Instagram.

Naturally, pictures will be taken during those trips but end up stored in computers or tucked away on albums never to be seen again. Why not display your adventures around the world and make so that you will never have to wonder which part of the world they were taken. A big world map on a wall would do just the trick.

Oversized Frames

If you noticed recently, oversize is coming back in style. People are wearing wide-leg trousers once more, tops are two to three sizes too big, jackets and sweaters have room enough to hide a couple of pets. This trend is not confined to fashion; it also leeches into home decoration.

For your memories, consider getting giant frames instead of small individual ones. You can fit numerous pictures in it to achieve a collage-type feel. You can combine two or three frames in a big wall, or spread them out around the house.

Instagram Inspired

We can’t deny that what was once a photo-sharing site has broken all rules and expectations and is currently dominating the social networking space. I’m talking of course about Instagram. I love the app and I use it all the time.

I particularly like how it showcases your pictures. Why not recreate it in your own home? You can crop and print photos to become square-shaped, stick them in big foam core board and seal them with Mod Podge. This idea you can do in half a day and it won’t cost a lot too.

Black and White and a Branch

A black and white photo will never go out of style. It’s a great way to display the emotion of a picture without the distraction of colors. But displaying black and white photos can be tricky. One suggestion is by using a prop, a tree branch for example. You can paint it black and attach strings along its length where black and white photos can be glued on.

Clothesline for Your Polaroid

Just like world maps, oversized frames, and vintage photo booth, a new trend that people are embracing is polaroid pictures. They have a very distinct aesthetics and the nostalgia one gets from seeing a picture materialize out of nowhere is always a huge hit. You can display Polaroid shots by hanging them in a makeshift clothesline and secured with clothespins.
