This week sees the launch of Just A Card’s Indie Week (25th-29th November 2019). And to celebrate I am sharing my Small Business Top 5 Christmas Buys.
Just A Card’s Indie Week is all about encouraging people to support, value and buy from small businesses, independent shops, artists, designers and makers at Christmas.
Whilst the world goes mad for the consumer fest that is Black Friday, Just A Card are inviting us to not fall for the trend of buying from the larger companies (*cough* like Amazon), which we are all guilty of and there’s nothing wrong with it depending on what you’re buying.
However it’s equally as great to support our small businesses who really do create some beautiful and high quality products, which really are unique.
Therefore Just A Card invites everyone to unite by adding bags of creative colour to this Indie Week, and encourage people to support independents and shop small this business.
To celebrate I want to share with you my Small Business Top 5 Christmas Buys from some of my favourites.
I absolutely love the Gift Wrap and Greeting Card Collection from Lorna Syson. In time for the Christmas Countdown she has released her Christmas Bird Wrapping Paper, and I’ve got a little soft spot for her Penguin Wrapping Paper.
All of which come with a range of Festive Greeting Cards to match.
These designs are fun and quirky, with a distinctive Lorna Syson style, which will really make sure your Christmas Gift Wrapping is a cut above the rest when sitting under the tree.
Pricing starts from £2.50 and has made sure materials are recyclable where possible! Which is perfect for a consciously sustainable Christmas this year (And beyond).

I fell in love with Willow & Finn when I discovered her earlier this year and bought a few of her candles.
What I love about Willow and Finn’s Candle range is they are all handmade; hand poured in small batches, and eco friendly soy wax candles.
Also available are Willow & Finn’s Essential Oil Blend Collection, which are pure, and all paraben and phalate free.
Using either these oils or burning their candles, means you won’t be putting harsh chemicals into your home, which a lot of candle manufacturers cannot guarantee.
I absolutely love my candles, and will be asking for these for sure as a stocking filler! Prices start from £5.00 and you can view the variety of scents and purchase them here. (I went for Woodland Stroll, Citrus Zing and Mrs Claus’s Bakery!)
I’ve known Anita from Onion Studio for a few years now, as we met and have been neighbours many times at numerous local Selling Events.
Onion Studio is all about plants, which makes this brand ideal of any plant lover.
I absolutely love Onion Studio’s style and collections; eye-catching, functional and design-led products, which draw inspiration from Anita’s family-home in Northern Italy.
I have a few planters from Onion Studio in our home, and am currently eyeing up the brass-hanging planters for my next purchase. There is honestly so much choice, which makes you want to swoon over every item on the website for ages.
As well as planters, Onion Studio also sells products to help you with your green thumbed addiction, ranging from £6.00. Available to browse and buy here.
Anita uses high quality, carefully sourced and sustainable raw materials, which are carefully hand-crafted and curated with one-off designs uniting a diverse range of unique products.
Onion Studio has an eclectic collection of products from other independent designers and manufacturers that share the clear sense of purpose, design and functionality that embody Anita’s philosophy.
London Craft Club / Tea & Crafting – Crafting Gift Vouchers
If buying products isn’t your thing but you’d rather purchase experiences for loved ones instead, (which is what the hubby and I love to ask for each Christmas!), then looking at Craft Vouchers is a must!
I have two recommendations for this, because I cannot possibly choose from either.
I have worked alongside both London Craft Club and Tea and Crafting, both of which are absolutely brilliant Craft Workshop Businesses based in London. I can honestly highlight recommend both of these businesses.
They also both offer Gift Vouchers for their Craft Workshops, with which comes with a huge amount of choice. From printing, yarn craft, stitching, and macramé, to bookbinding, calligraphy, jewellery making and watercolour painting.
Therefore if you know someone who loves to craft, make sure you purchase a Craft Gift Voucher, for a great 2020 Crafting experience.
And lastly, but by no means least, I wanted to remind you that even though I have my interior styling side of Laura Felicity and love to blog, I also have a product range!
In keeping with the Shop Small theme for Christmas, my Art Prints in particular make a perfect Christmas Present for anyone who loves to decorate their home.
If you know anyone who is partial to a Gin and Tonic, or loves an Espresso Martini, the ‘Drink Collection’ of Art Prints are ideal as stocking filler gift ideas.
Similarly if you have a loved one in mind who is a real home bird and loves to stay indoors, my ‘Home Collection’ of Art Prints are perfect purchases for their walls.
Each art print has been inspired by brush lettering, and designed in my signature Laura Felicity style, based on my design range and colour options.
Each are available in A4, making them a perfect fit for universal frames, and are currently on sale from £8.00
There you have my Small Business top 5 Christmas buys from some independents.
Please make sure you head over to Just A Card this week for their Indie Week, and please do have a browse of the 5 different businesses I’ve mentioned here, to help you shop small this Christmas.
